How to increase the port speed from 100Mbps to 1000Mbps on BDCOM EPON ONU

In this short guide, we will show you how to set the port speeds of the BDCOM EPON ONU through your Command Line Terminal on the OLT.

In some cases, the EPON ONU’s might be limited to only 100Mbps as a default setting and to increase the speeds, you can use the following commands from you BDCOM EPON Command Line Interface.  In our scenario, we have two EPON ONU’s connected to the second PON port of the OLT and they are numbered 1 and 2 respectively.

switch_config#interface range epon 0/2:1-2

switch_config_if_range#epon onu port 1 ctc rate-lmit 10000 ingress

switch_config_if_range#epon onu port 2 ctc rate-limit 10000 egress

switch_config_if_range#exit

switch_config#write all

We add the 10000 as the limit is set in Kbps on both the ingress and the egress of the ONU.  To check if the configuration is applied to any one of the ONU units, simply use the following command to see the running configuration of the ONU.

switch_config#show running-config interface epon 0/2:1

The result should look something like the image below:
